Known for his sound batting technique, he has scored nearly 25,000 runs in international cricket and is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He is colloquially known as Mr. Dependable, and often referred to as The Great Wall or The Wall by Indian cricket followers.
