Ashwani Lohani is a distinguished former bureaucrat and leader with over four decades of experience in public sector transformation, infrastructure development, and tourism leadership. A retired officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME 1980), he served twice as CMD of Air India, where he led the organization to operational profitability. As Chairman of the Railway Board, he championed major reforms, including the launch of Vande Bharat trains, Dedicated Freight Corridors, and the High-Speed Rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, significantly enhancing safety, cleanliness, and infrastructure. His leadership roles span CMD of ITDC, MD & Commissioner Tourism (GoMP), and Director in the Ministry of Tourism. A Fellow of the Institution of Engineers and Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport, he holds multiple engineering qualifications. Currently a Member of the National Tourism Advisory Committee, Ashwani is widely recognized for his governance excellence and numerous national and international accolades.
