Biography

General Ved Prakash Malik is a highly respected military leader and the 19th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army, best known for leading the nation during the 1999 Kargil War (Operation Vijay). Awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Param Vishisht Seva Medal, he commanded over one million troops and played a decisive role in restoring India’s territorial integrity under extreme geopolitical pressure.

During his tenure, he advised the Indian government on critical security matters, including counter-terrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir, the Northeast, and border management with China and Pakistan. Post-retirement, he served on the National Security Advisory Board and contributed to leadership benchmarking initiatives with Hewitt Associates and Fortune Magazine.
