Duvvuri Subbarao is a distinguished economist and former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (2008–2013), widely respected for steering India’s monetary policy through the global financial crisis. Over a public service career spanning three decades, he has held senior roles including Finance Secretary to the Government of India and Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council. Earlier, as Lead Economist at the World Bank, he advised developing economies on public finance reforms. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Ohio State University, MIT, and Andhra University, Subbarao combines academic rigor with policy realism. He is the author of Who Moved My Interest Rate? and Just a Mercenary (2024), and has served as Visiting Fellow at institutions including NUS and the University of Pennsylvania.
