Biography

Dr. Kiran Bedi is a distinguished leader, India’s first woman officer in the Indian Police Service (IPS), and a globally recognised reformer in governance, leadership, and public administration. With a career spanning over four decades, she has served in key policing, administrative, and institutional leadership roles, championing transparency, accountability, and citizen-centric governance.

Dr. Bedi gained international recognition for her prison reform initiatives at Tihar Jail, transforming it into a model correctional institution focused on rehabilitation, education, and human dignity. Her contributions to public service earned her the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service.

She has also served as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and as a member of the United Nations Civilian Police Advisory Group. A prolific author and motivational speaker, Dr. Bedi inspires audiences worldwide with insights on leadership, integrity, resilience, and ethical governance.
