James Sangma is politician from the State of Meghalaya and has held key cabinet portfolios—including Home, Power, Law, Food & Civil Supplies, and Forest & Environment—in the Conrad Sangma ministry between 2018 and 2021. He was first elected to the State Assembly along with his brother Conrad K. Sangma, in the 2008 State Legislative Assembly elections. James K. Sangma has represented the Dadenggre (ST) constituency in the West Garo Hills district for three consecutive terms. He serves as the Spokesperson for the National People’s Party and the National General Secretary i/c Finance.
